WEYERHAEUSER AMONG 'THE 100 BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR IN AMERICA'

TACOMA, Wash., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second time, Weyerhaeuser (NYSE: WY) has been named one of "The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America," by Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz, the company said today. The new, revised second edition of the 1984 bestseller, published by Doubleday, looks at companies through the eyes of their employees. Weyerhaeuser is the only forest products company to make the list.
"Being selected as one of the '100 Best' is very pleasing," said Jack Creighton, Weyerhaeuser president and chief executive officer. "It's a tangible recognition that Weyerhaeuser is an exceptional place to work. This is one more step toward our vision of being the best forest products company in the world."
The authors interviewed thousands of employees throughout the country to come up with a roster of organizations where people are happy to work because they are treated with respect. Companies were rated on six different criteria: Pay/Benefits; Opportunities; Job Security; Pride in Work/Company; Openness/Fairness; and Camaraderie/Friendship.
"We want people across the company to feel that this is a rewarding and positive place to work. The best companies have the best employees, and this will help us continue to attract and retain the best people," said Creighton.
Weyerhaeuser rated especially highly in pay and benefits, and pride in work and company. And, the company also received special recognition for having one of the "Most Beautiful Corporate Headquarters."
