WESTON FORMS ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING VENTURE IN ITALY

 WEST CHESTER, Pa., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Weston International Holdings, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of nationwide environmental services firm Roy F. Weston, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTNA) (WESTON)(R), and Silec, S.p.A. of Torino, Italy, today announced the formation of Weston Italia s.r.l.
 The jointly owned venture will provide environmental engineering, consulting, remediation and construction services throughout Italy, specializing in the industrial waste area for public and private clients.
 Environmental Specialists
 -- Based in Torino, Silec S.p.A. is an engineering contractor engaged in environmental turnkey projects for Italy's public works sector. With 30 years of environmental and consulting experience, Silec S.p.A. has used foreign technology, mostly imported from the United States, to accelerate its growth in the marketplace. Silec S.p.A. is the lead company in its parent Silec Group, which reported 1991 gross revenues of $62.8 million and has several branch companies supplying waste treatment equipment.
 WESTON, providing environmental engineering, consulting and remediation to U.S. government and industry for more than 35 years, ranks fourth largest in both hazardous waste and sewer/waste design categories. WESTON employs 3,000 people in 45 offices and laboratories nationwide and reported 1991 gross revenues of $315 million.
 Giovanni Giuffrida, the newly appointed president and managing director of Weston Italia, is an engineering graduate of Turin Politecnic and has more than 20 years of environmental industry experience. He has specialized in engineering, designing, consulting and testing of wastewater treatment plants; solid waste facilities; water supply networks; and hydraulic disposition of rivers and streams, sewers and toxic waste treatment plants. For the past 15 years, Giuffrida was managing director for several public agencies in Italy; and, previously, served as Technical Coordinator for the regional Environmental, Ecological and Energy Administration in Piemonte.
 International Partnership
 According to Philip M. Chen, P.E., WESTON executive vice president and president of Weston International, Inc., "This latest initiative is another step by WESTON to strategically join with established international partners to provide comprehensive environmental services to our multinational clients.
 "WESTON has been working in Italy on a project basis since the early 1970s and we firmly believe we understand the market," Chen said. "By combining our background with Silec's three decades of environmental contracting and consulting, the new Weston Italia is in an even better position to offer turnkey services throughout Italy."
 In addition, Chen said that Weston Italia will operate and compete in Italy and also in the European Common markets, as appropriate.
