WESTON AND FEHILY TIMONEY FORM ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING VENTURE
WEST CHESTER, Pa., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Weston International Holdings, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Roy F. Weston, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTNA) (Weston) of West Chester, and Fehily Timoney & Associates (FTA) of County Cork, Ireland, today announced the formation of Weston-FTA Ltd., which will provide environmental engineering and consulting services in Ireland.
Weston has more than 35 years experience in all aspects of environmental engineering, consulting and design, and Fehily Timoney & Associates is a well established engineering consultancy in Ireland.
Weston-FTA is located at Centre Park House in Cork. Weston's Kevin C. Harvey is general manager.
In remarks announcing the formation of the joint venture, Thomas J. Tuffey, Ph.D., executive vice president of Roy F. Weston, Inc., and president of Weston International, Inc., said, "This venture represents Weston's initiative to seek environmental business opportunities in the evolving global economy. Weston and FTA forged teams and have successfully completed several projects in Ireland over the last two years and we expect the new jointly owned company to play a major role in solving environmental problems for public and private sector clients in Ireland."
Tuffey noted moreover, that Weston-FTA is a significant addition to Weston's portfolio as a major international environmental, health and safety firm. With more than 3,000 employees in 45 offices throughout the U.S.A, Weston is ranked as the second largest hazardous waste firm and the seventh largest in sewerage engineering work in the United States by ENR magazine, a top industry publication. In 1991, Weston and its subsidiaries reported gross revenues of $315 million.
Brendan Fehily, senior partner in FTA, who is widely experienced as an engineering consultant, said the new venture would provide comprehensive environmental consulting and engineering services including, environmental audits, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental impact assessments, groundwater monitoring, air quality management, wastewater treatment and contaminated land reclamation.
"Weston-FTA is committed to the principle of pollution prevention as the most important environmental challenge of the future," Fehily said. He said he expects the joint venture to work with companies to develop their environmental strategies and to implement pollution prevention policies.
"As the environmental industry matures we see an increasing demand for the services of Weston-FTA," said Tuffey. "Our clients are taking the initiative in solving their environmental challenges. Changing regulations and pro-environmental attitudes continue to create new market opportunities for companies such as ours."
