WESTINGHOUSE TO SUPPLY STEAM GENERATOR PARTS TO VIRGINIA POWER
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX) today announced it has signed a contract with Virginia Power to supply the lower assemblies for three replacement steam generators for the utility's North Anna Power Station, Unit 2.
The contract has a potential value of approximately $40 million, Westinghouse said.
The replacement steam generators will employ features of the Westinghouse Model F that have operated for more than a decade and exhibited outstanding performance. Virginia Power plans to reuse the upper assemblies from existing generators.
North Anna 2, a 909-megawatt Westinghouse pressurized water reactor located near Mineral, Va., entered commercial operation in 1980.
Westinghouse is the world's foremost supplier of nuclear power technology, systems, fuel and services. More than 170 nuclear plants worldwide employ Westinghouse's pressurized water reactor technology.
