WESTINGHOUSE TO SUPPLY PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM AT CZECH POWER PLANT

PRAGUE, Nov. 22 -- Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX) today announced it received a contract from the Czech architect- engineering firm Skoda-Prague to provide a digital control system to enhance the Melnik power plant, which is located north of Prague.
The company's Process Control-Europe unit will supply its WDPF (Westinghouse Distributed Processing Family) control system to enhance the efficiency and environmental quality of units 9 and 10 of the Melnik 2 station. Each unit burns coal and produces 110 megawatts of power. The Melnik station is owned and operated by the Czech utility CEZ, a.s.
"Westinghouse is pleased to be supplying its second WDPF system in the Czech Republic," said Ron Henderson, managing director of Westinghouse Process Control-Europe. "This contract from CEZ represents the 15th WDPF system that Westinghouse has sold in Central and Eastern Europe in the last three years."
Westinghouse is currently in the final stages of supplying a WDPF system for units 2 and 3 of the Ledvice thermal plant in northwest Bohemia.
The WDPF system for Melnik will include the Westinghouse-developed WEStation, which offers the most advanced plant-wide information system and operator interface capability in the process control industry.
Westinghouse will work with its various Czech joint venture partners to implement this project.
More than 700 WDPF systems are installed in power generating facilities worldwide. The systems perform data acquisition and boiler control, and improve interface among essential plant systems, such as turbine and burner controls.
Westinghouse is the global market leader in the supply of control systems for power plant applications.
