WESTINGHOUSE SUBSIDIARY AWARDED $35 MILLION SERVICE CONTRACT FOR AUSTRALIAN STEEL MILL

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Slab & Plate Products unit of Australian-based Broken Hill Proprietary Limited's (BHP) Steel Division has awarded a $35 million contract to Gladwin Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX), it was announced today.
The contract calls for maintenance and service of continuous caster molds and segments at BHP's steel mill in Port Kembla, New South Wales, Australia.
"This is the first major contract for Gladwin in Australia," said Lou Lazzaretti, president of Gladwin.
"This contract significantly strengthens our position as the leading continuous caster service company in the world. BHP selected us over a number of international competitors because of our ability to deliver a total quality package at significant cost savings and greater overall caster machine operating efficiency."

Gladwin specializes in repairing continuous caster molds, segments, zones and rolls; specialty manufacturing for water spray systems and adjustable molds; and engineering services, such as retrofits, revamps, and technological inserts.
The company also holds a number of patents worldwide for a variety of special products, including adjustable taper measuring gauges, bearing systems, electronic adjustment systems, dummybar chain systems, and hydraulic shroud support and changing devices.
Part of the corporation's Specialty Services Division, Gladwin is headquartered in East Palestine, Ohio. Gladwin has service experience at over 35 different steel mills and operates 11 repair and engineering facilities.
