WESTINGHOUSE POWER GROUP AWARDED ARGENTINE CONTRACTS TOTALING $50 MILLION

 ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX) today announced it has been awarded contracts for more than $50 million to supply, operate and maintain a power generating plant in Argentina.
 The company's Power Generation business unit will supply the 100-megawatt class Agua del Cajon Power Plant on a turnkey basis to Companias Asociadas Petroleras, S.A. The plant represents the first green-field independent power project to be developed in Argentina.
 The power plant will include two Model 251B11 combustion turbines, which incorporate advanced cooling technology resulting in enhanced efficiency. The turbines are scheduled for delivery early this year to support the plant's commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 1993. The Agua del Cajon Power Plant will be located in the Neuquen Province of Argentina.
 "Companias Asociadas Petroleras is leading the way in independent power in Argentina, and we're honored that they've selected Westinghouse to supply their first power plant," said Frank R. Bakos, vice president and general manager of the Westinghouse Power Generation business unit.
 Westinghouse combustion turbines are performance leaders in the industry, achieving an average cumulative availability of over 95 percent and an average cumulative reliability of more than 98 percent.
 Companias Asociadas Petroleras, S.A., of Buenos Aires, is a private oil and independent power generation company.
 Westinghouse Electric Corporation, based in Pittsburgh, is a leader in the global power generation business and has supplied more than 280,000 megawatts of power generating capacity. The Westinghouse Power Generation business unit is headquartered in Orlando.
