WESTINGHOUSE AWARDED CONTRACTS WORTH NEARLY $250 MILLION BY LS POWER CORPORATION

 ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX) today announced a contract worth nearly $250 million by LS Power Corporation of Bozeman, Mont., for the supply of two power plants with nominal ratings of 220 megawatts, along with related services.
 The power plants, which will be built in Cottage Grove, Minn., and Whitewater, Wis., will be supplied on a turnkey basis by Westinghouse. Both power plants will use the Westinghouse Model 501F advanced, high temperature combustion turbine-generator in a combined cycle with a steam turbine-generator to produce 220 megawatts. The plants will use natural gas as their primary fuel.
 According to Mikhail Segal, managing director of LS Power, "We chose Westinghouse for their engineering ingenuity and their competitiveness. Westinghouse is a good addition to our project development team." he said.
 The power plant to be built in Whitewater is scheduled to go into operation in 1996. The power plant in Cottage Grove is scheduled to go into operation in early 1997. Westinghouse will also supply long term operations and maintenance services for both power plants.

 Westinghouse will manufacture the power generation equipment in its Charlotte, N.C.; Winston-Salem, N.C.; Pensacola, Fla.; Houston; Fort Payne, Ala.; and Hamilton, Ontario, factories.
 The Westinghouse Power Generation business unit is headquartered in Orlando. Westinghouse Electric Corporation, headquartered in Pittsburgh, is a global leader in the power generation market and has supplied over 280,000 megawatts of power generation equipment worldwide.
 LS Power Corporation is a private power company with over 1,650 megawatts of power projects under development in the midwest and Rocky Mountains regions of the United States.
