WESTINGHOUSE AND PARSONS RECEIVE $39 MILLION EQUIPMENT ORDER FROM TVA

 ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX), working in cooperation with Parsons Ltd. of the United Kingdom and Canada, today announced a $39 million power generation equipment order awarded by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
 Westinghouse will supply two electrical generators for TVA's Colbert Unit No. 5 power plant, located in Tuscumbia, Ala. Parsons will supply four rotor assemblies for the plant's low pressure turbines. Westinghouse will install all of the new equipment.
 The new equipment will modernize the existing steam turbine- generators, which were originally manufactured by Parsons. Colbert Unit No. 5 is fueled by coal and produces 500 megawatts of electricity.
 "Westinghouse and Parsons teamed up on this agreement to provide the most technically comprehensive modernization program to meet TVA's long term goals for Colbert Unit No. 5," said Frank Bakos, vice president and general manager of the Westinghouse Power Generation business unit. "The synergy between our two companies makes a unique joint effort like this one possible," he said.
 The cooperative effort between the two companies is an offshoot of a power generation technology alliance shared by Westinghouse and Rolls Royce. Parsons is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rolls Royce Industrial Power Group.
 Westinghouse will manufacture the electrical generators in its Pensacola, Fla., Fort Payne, Ala., and Charlotte, N.C., facilities. Parsons will manufacture the steam turbine rotors and related components at its Heaton Works located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. The equipment will be installed by Westinghouse service personnel in late 1994.
 The Westinghouse Power Generation business unit is headquartered in Orlando, with integrated manufacturing facilities in Charlotte, Winston- Salem, N.C., Fort Payne, Pensacola, Houston, and Hamilton, Ontario.
