 WESTERN WASTE ANNOUNCES 1992 RESULTS
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Western Waste Industries

(NYSE: WW) today announced that net income for its year ended June 30, 1992, was $2,370,000, or $.17 per share, compared with $11,234,000, or $.81 per share, for the prior fiscal year. Adjusted for the closing of a manufacturing division and a write-down, both of which were announced in the previous quarter ended March 31, 1992, the company would have earned $9,782,000, or $.70 per share. Revenue increased 10 percent to $219,376,000 from $199,820,000 in the prior year.
For the fourth quarter, net income was $2,168,000, or $.16 per share, vs. $2,936,000, or $.21 per share. Revenue advanced 16 percent to $57,769,000, compared to $49,903,000.
"While our collection revenue continued to grow, our industrial landfill volumes compared to the prior year remained weak," stated Kosti Shirvanian, president and chief executive officer. "Our collection revenue has increased in each of our regiconomy on these industrial volumes.
"The year was a difficult one, yet we made significant progress in both the landfill and collection areas. Recently we announced the opening of our Conroe, Texas, special waste site. It has outperformed our expectations," stated Shirvanian. "Additionally, we have begun receiving out-of-county waste at our Riverside, Calif., landfill, which will increase earnings for 1993. We continue to be very excited about our $80 million six-year collection agreement awarded by the City of San Jose, Calif., which begins in July 1993."
Western Waste Industries is a leading integrated solid waste management company, providing collection, recycling, composting and disposal services for commercial, industrial and residential customers. The company has locations in California, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana and Colorado.
