WESTERN ENERGY INC. ISSUES STATEMENT TO SHAREHOLDERS
LOS ANGELES, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Western Energy Inc.

(OTC Bulletin Board: WENR) today released a copy of a statement issued previously on May 7 to its shareholders:
 Dear Shareholder:
The board of directors of Western Energy Inc., would like to bring you up to date on current corporate developments.
 Oil and Gas Operations
 New Acquisition:
Western Energy is pleased to announced that the company has concluded negotiations for the acquisition of a 50 percent working interest in the Bates Hollow Unit in Hancock County, Ky., for cash and stock in Western Energy Inc. The Bates Hollow project consists of nine oil and gas leases comprising of approximately 630 acres. There are a total of 10 wells in this unit which is located 25 miles east of the city of Owensboro, Ky.
Oil production is from the Tar Springs sandstone formation at a depth of about 350 to 450 feet. The company anticipates to be on production within 45 to 60 days. The company estimates the production will be approximately 25 barrels per day at full production. In this unit is a gas reservoir in the Jackson formation that is not currently being exploited. The company anticipates future gas production in this zone. The revenues from this unit will greatly enhance the cash flow to the company. There are other excellent drilling sites on the existing leases for further development.
 Oil Drilling Update
As mentioned in our previous newsletter of Oct. 24, 1991, the first well drilled in November produced oil with a substantial amount of water in the McClosky formation. Gas was also found in the Jackson formation. However both zones proved to be non-commercial so the well was plugged. The second well that was drilled at the end of December is currently being evaluated. Pipe has not yet been set. No further wells have been drilled as of this date.
 Overseas Opportunities
Western Energy is currently investigating various opportunities overseas. These opportunities are directly related to both oil and gas exploration and metal recycling. We shall keep our shareholders informed of any developments.
Western Energy is making progress in its efforts to reach our goals of construction of the Catalyst Recycling Plant, however, we will continue to search for and acquire oil and gas production in the future in order to increase the asset value and profitability of the company.
Thank you for your continued support.
