WESTERN DIGITAL NAMES TRAVIS WHITE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL MANAGER, MICROCOMPUTER PRODUCTS

 IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Western Digital Corp. (NYSE: WDC) announced today the appointment of A. Travis White as executive vice president and general manager of the company's Microcomputer Products Group, effective Feb. 1.
 Roger W. Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer, announced that White, 47, will be joining Western Digital from LSI Logic Corp., where he has served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of LSI Logic Canada Ltd. since 1991, and corporate executive vice president of LSI Logic's Headland Technology subsidiary and Asia Pacific geographical region since 1992.
 At Western Digital, White will report to Chuck Haggerty, president and chief operating officer, and have responsibility for all Microcomputer Product operations, including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing. The MCP Group includes the storage LSI, graphics chip, Paradise board, and systems logic chipset product lines, as well as the company's semiconductor wafer fabrication facility in Irvine.

 Reporting to White at Western Digital will be the managing directors of four product groups and heads of three resource areas: John Petersen, vice president, graphics; Dan Brown, vice president, storage LSI; Robert Lawten, vice president, systems solutions; Keith Plant, vice president, Paradise products; John MacKay, senior vice president, Microcomputer Product manufacturing; Bill Frank, vice president and chief systems architect; and Mel Marmet, senior director, VLSI design and automation technology.
 White joined LSI Logic in 1983 and served as vice president, central operations, from 1983-1987; vice president, assembly operations, 1987-1989; and senior vice president, operations, Europe, 1989-1991, before being named president and chief executive officer of LSI Logic Canada in 1991. Prior to his career at LSI Logic, he held executive and operations positions at Honeywell, Fairchild Camera & Instrument, and Texas Instruments. White is a graduate of the University of Texas.
 Headquartered in Irvine, Western Digital Corp. is a recognized leader in the design and manufacture of hard disk drives, integrated circuits, and graphics controller board-level products. The company markets these products to leading systems manufacturers and selected resellers serving the personal computer industry, under the Western Digital, Caviar and Paradise brand names.
