WEST WING STAR DEAD.

WEST WING star John Spencer died from a heart attack last night.

The 58-year-old was pronounced dead in an LA hospital. His publicist confirmed the news but gave no other details.

He played chief of staff Leo McGarry in the political drama, the right-hand man to Martin Sheen's president Bartlet.

The role earned Spencer an Emmy Award in 2002.

He can currently be seen in the seventh series of the show on More4.

Prior to The West Wing, he found fame on LA Law
