 WEST POINT-PEPPERELL PROMOTES THREE
 WEST POINT, Ga., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of


West Point - Pepperell, Inc. (NYSE: WPM), has promoted three senior executives to new positions as executive vice presidents of the corporation, it was announced today by Holcombe T. Green Jr., chairman and chief executive officer.
 William F. Crumley, 55, has been appointed executive vice president- Manufacturing; Stanley Kees, 44, has been appointed executive vice president-Finance; and Thomas Ward, 47, has been appointed executive vice president-Sales and Marketing.
 "These three men have contributed importantly to WestPoint Pepperell's success, and their promotions to new senior management responsibilities are well deserved," said Green.
 In addition, WestPoint Pepperell announced that the company's Apparel Fabrics Division, which includes Alamac Knits, will no longer be classified as a "discontinued operation." It will remain an active operating division, the company said.
 Crumley joined WestPoint Pepperell in 1989 as vice president- Manufacturing for Stevens Terry and Bath Products. He then became vice president-Manufacturing for Bed Products Finishing, Fabrication, and Distribution, and later, in 1991, assumed the additional responsibilities of the company's Accessories operations.
 Prior to joining WestPoint Pepperell, Crumley had 29 years' experience in textile manufacturing, including three years in an executive capacity with Madden, Inc., and three years in management posts with Cannon Mills. Before joining these companies, he was with Fieldcrest Mills for 23 years. Crumley holds a B.S. degree in textiles from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. He will continue to make his offices in West Point and Clemson, S.C.
 Kees joined the company in 1989 as vice president-Finance. Prior to that time, he was associated for several years with Fruit of the Loom in an executive capacity. He earned his B.S. degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green. Kees will continue to be located at the company's corporate offices, West Point.
 Ward has been with the company since 1969, when he joined J.P. Stevens' management in New York. Subsequent assignments with J.P. Stevens, Inc., included vice president-Sales and president of J.P. Stevens Home Fashions. With WestPoint Pepperell, he served as president of the J.P. Stevens Home Fashions Division. He retains his position as president-Home Fashions for WestPoint Pepperell. Ward earned a B.A. degree in business from Marist College and attended the Drexel University School of Business. As executive vice president-Sales and Marketing, he will continue to be based in New York.
 WestPoint Pepperell is the nation's leading domestic producer in the bed linen market and is one of the top two domestic producers in the bath towel market. Products are marketed under such leading brand names as Martex, Utica, Lady Pepperell, Stevens, and Vellux and licensed properties as Collier Campbell, Louis Nichole, Eileen West, Ralph Lauren, Gloria Vanderbilt and Liberty of London.
