WESBANCO ACQUIRES FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF BARNESVILLE WHEELING, W.Va., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- WesBanco Inc.
(NASDAQ: WSBC) announced expansion of its banking system into eastern Ohio on July 17, 1992, with the consummation of the merger of the First National Bank of Barnesville, Barnesville, Ohio, into a wholly owned subsidiary of WesBanco.
With the addition of First National Bank of Barnesville, WesBanco's total assets increase to approximately $1 billion and the number of WesBanco banking subsidiaries to 11. At March 31, 1992, First National Bank of Barnesville had total assets of approximately $144 million. The WesBanco system provides 21 banking locations in West Virginia and five in eastern Ohio, with two locations in Barnesville and one each in Bethesda, Woodsfield and Beallsville. As a result of the merger, First National Bank of Barnesville stockholders received 12 shares of WesBanco Inc. common stock for each share of common stock held at First National Bank of Barnesville. Six hundred thousand shares of WesBanco common stock were issued in the merger. As part of the transaction, Joe Bradfield and John Kirk, directors of First National Bank of Barnesville, have been elected to WesBanco's board of directors. -0- 7/20/92 /CONTACT: T.G.
