WENDY L. GRAMM JOINS ENRON CORP. BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 HOUSTON, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Enron Corp. (NYSE: ENE) announced today that it has elected to its board of directors Dr. Wendy L. Gramm, former chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
 "We are extremely pleased to add another very talented individual to our board of directors," said Kenneth L. Lay, chairman and CEO of Enron Corp. "We are fortunate to have board members with diverse skills and broad experience, and Dr. Gramm will certainly continue that trend. Natural gas is being marketed and traded quite differently than in the past, and Dr. Gramm's experience in financial and commodities markets will prove extremely valuable to Enron."
 Gramm served as chairman of the U. S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission from 1988 until 1993. She served in the Office of Management and Budget from 1985-1988, while also serving as executive director of the Presidential Task
Force on Regulatory Relief from 1986-1988. She was director of the Bureau of Economics within the Federal Trade Commission from 1983-1985.
 Gramm holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Wellesley College and a doctorate in economics from Northwestern University.
