WENDY'S REBUILDING HURRICANE-DESTROYED RESTAURANTS IN DADE COUNTY

WENDY'S REBUILDING HURRICANE-DESTROYED RESTAURANTS IN DADE COUNTY
MIAMI, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Showing its commitment to remaining in the Miami area, Wendy's International (NYSE: WEN) has begun rebuilding the three restaurants destroyed by Hurricane Andrew.
While work has already begun to rebuild the destroyed Wendy's restaurants, Wendy's has been trying to contact all its employees affected by the Hurricane and has been providing temporary shelter, relocation assistance, financial assistance and social services for its employees.
"Wendy's is committed to remaining in Dade County, and to rebuilding our destroyed locations," said Ray Serina, senior vice president, Wendy's Southeast region. "We are working alongside other businesses to rebuild and show our support for this area."
The Homestead location is scheduled to be rebuilt by early November, the south Miami Wendy's on S. Dixie Highway is scheduled for completion by mid-October, and plans have begun to rebuild at the Cutler Ridge Wendy's.
There are 46 Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurants in the Dade, Broward, and Monroe County area, including the three locations that are being rebuilt.
In addition to the task of rebuilding, Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurants in the Miami area and around the country are helping thousands of hurricane victims by donating food, clothing, and supplies. Wendy's is dispatching two mobile "restaurants" to Cutler Ridge and Homestead -- two of the areas hardest-hit by the hurricane. These mobile units will provide free hamburgers, french fries, and canned soft drinks for at least seven days, and are scheduled to open for business on Sept. 7.
Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurants were founded in 1969 by R. David Thomas, who named the chain after one of his daughters. Wendy's has over 3,900 restaurants and annual sales of more than $3.2 billion.
