 WELLS FARGO INTRODUCES NEW CHECKING ACCOUNT OWNER'S GUIDE;
 EDUCATIONAL TOOL TO AID BANK CUSTOMERS
 SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- You're driving happily along and your car stalls on a deserted road. You need to find an answer to your automotive troubles on your own, so you reach into your glove compartment and pull out your...Wells Fargo Checking Account Owner's Guide?
 Well, not exactly.
 But if customers are having trouble balancing their checkbooks, want to know how to protect their accounts from fraud, want to understand more about ATM features, need to know how to write a check or just what a check is, there's help.
 The Checking Account Owner's Guide is now available in branches for Wells Fargo Bank customers who open a checking account for the first time, or for anyone who wants a handy reference on how to use their checking account.
 "The same thinking went into producing this guide as goes into a new car guide that a car manufacturer might produce," said Sea Houston, executive vice president and manager of Wells Fargo's Consumer Checking Division.
 "Having a checking account is a real necessity in today's world, and as long as you have one, you should make sure you know how to use it properly in order to maximize its advantages. That's why we wrote this guide," Houston continued.
 The guide provides Wells Fargo checking customers with a variety of basics on using a checking account: writing checks, avoiding overdrafts, using ATM cards, making deposits and the need to record all transactions. The guide also includes a walk-through of how to read an account statement, how to balance a checkbook, and makes suggestions on how to reduce bank fees, among other hints.
 "We find that many people don't really know how to properly use a checking account before they go out and open one," Houston said. "We hope this helps those people and serves as a quick reminder to others who may have a question from time to time."
 The 44-page guide is available in all of Wells Fargo's 614 branches statewide.
