 WEIJIA CUI JOINS SOMANETICS AS SENIOR STAFF SCIENTIST
 TROY, Mich., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Gary Lewis, chairman and


president of Somanetics Corporation (NASDAQ: SMTS), announced that Weijia Cui has joined the company as senior staff scientist.
 In his position, Cui will conduct research related to the application of infrared spectroscopy as applied to optical tissue examination and in vivo blood distribution. The research will be applied to the computer-based medical diagnostic and monitoring equipment developed and marketed by Somanetics.
 Before joining Somanetics, Cui was senior engineer at the BOC Technical Center, Murray Hill, N.J. Prior to that, he was postdoctorate fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was a research assistant and teaching assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
 Cui has a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering and master's degrees in biomedical engineering and electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He obtained a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, China.
 Somanetics Corporation is headquartered in Troy, Mich. The company currently manufactures and markets the INVOS(R) 3100 Cerebral Oximeter which monitors oxygen saturation of the blood in portions of an adult's brain. The Cerebral Oximeter is intended for use in the operating room, recovery room, emergency room and intensive care unit.
 Somanetics' Common Shares are publicly traded on NASDAQ under the symbol SMTS. Its Units trade under the symbol SMTSU and its Class A and Class B Warrants trade under the symbols SMTSW and SMTSZ, respectively.
