WEGENER DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY EQUIPS JONES SATELLITE NETWORKS

DULUTH, Ga., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Wegener Communications has begun shipment of a new order of DR180 Digital Audio Subcarriers to Jones Satellite Networks, the nation's fastest-growing full-time satellite audio network.
The MPEG equipment will be used by Jones in the company's newest radio format, CD Country.
Jones Satellite Networks is owned by Jones Intercable (AMEX: JTV), one of the largest cable companies in the United States. The satellite network has been in operation for three years and currently encompasses about 500 radio stations. Jones distributes six full-time formats, all of which use Wegener equipment.
Eric Wiler, engineer for Jones Satellite Networks, has worked closely with Wegener since Jones' inception. "Compared with the digital audio equipment of other companies," he said, "Wegener offers superior performance at a lower cost."
Wiler added, "I have dealt with Wegener through many radio networks, and I have been impressed with the high quality of their equipment and service."
