WEEKEND: ME & MY PET: Chilly saved our cat's life just in time.

Byline: ANN EVANS

THIS is one-year-old Chilly, a Japanese Akita.

She was given to Mr and Mrs Edwards, of Whitworth Avenue, Stoke Aldermoor, Coventry, by their daughter, to replace their dog Lassie who was put to sleep at the age of 12.

Chilly soon settled into the family, and repaid their kindness when he saved the life of their cat Smut a few months ago. Smut had his head caught in a small plastic bag and Chilly found him and went into the living room and worried them until they followed him and found Smut hardly breathing.

Mrs Edwards says: "Another few moments and the cat would have died, this is what makes our Akita so special."
