 YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Wean Industries has


announced the formation of a technology group, which will be totally dedicated to applying the best technology available to meet its customers' specific needs, a spokesman said today.
 R.J. Wean III, president and CEO, said, "Due to the rapid changes in process technology for the metals industry, and our customers' ever-changing requirements to meet the increasing quality standards of their customers, we have established a technology group within Wean Industries that will be committed full-time to technological developments as they relate to our product lines.
 "The mission of the technology group will be to monitor, evaluate and apply new developments in technology worldwide through our company's licensors, licensees, operating companies, suppliers, customers and our own in-house engineering department. This organizational change shows our continuing commitment to selecting the best and latest technology to meet our customers' production, quality and cost requirements."
 Robert H. Messerly has been appointed to the new position of Director of Technology and will head the group. During his 32-year career with the Wean organization he has been recognized throughout the metals industries for his knowledge and contributions to continuous strip processing. Russell T. Grimm will fill the position of manager of technology. Prior to joining Wean Industries, he had extensive experience in the finishing departments of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel and Weirton Steel.
