THE FIFTEEN BILLION POUND RAILWAY (9pm BBC2) "SEXY" is a word that crops up a lot as the engineers witness parts of their Crossrail project finally taking shape. The new underground train line will link Heathrow Airport with Central London, the City and Docklands, and in the final part of this documentary we watch the sometimes painful birth of four new central London stations come into being.

The scale and ambition of the build is breath-taking - the largest station at Canary Wharf even includes a rooftop garden.

If you're the sort of person who comes out in a cold sweat at the prospect of putting up a curtain pole, watch and be amazed as massive concrete platforms and sections of escalator are lowered deep underground through an opening nicknamed "a molehole". But as the new line links east and west, it also uncovers the past as archaeologists discover skeletons believed to date from the 14th century, and London's long-lost plague pits.
