WE CAN'T CENSOR BEAST'S JAIL MAIL; Governor tells court of human rights concern.
ONE of Scotland's worst sex offenders sent a twisted letter from prison taunting his victim.
But a sheriff could only admonish beast Ryan Yates and ban him from contacting the woman again.
And a court heard that jail bosses can't censor convicts' mail - in case it breaches their human rights.
In the letter sent from Peterhead prison in October last year, Yates, 31, boasted about attacking his victim when she was just five.
He described abusing two girls aged five and eight in Dundee and a six-year-old in Aberdeen.
The pervert said he had joined a paedophile group and it was "great" - then claimed he had raped a new-born baby, filmed himself abusing children and "pimped" kiddies out to other paedophiles.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard women who saw the letter were "sickened" by its contents.
But Peterhead governor Mike Hebden told them the prison "no longer sanitise" inmates' letters.
Yates admitted sending an indecent and obscene letter to his victim in Dundee.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro said the only competent sentence was a fine but that was pointless because he is serving a sentence.
Instead, she admonished him and placed him on a sexual offences prevention order for five years.
Yates was caged last year for trying to murder an OAP so he could abduct and rape her granddaughters. Judge Lord Pentland ordered him to serve at least 10 years.
