NEWCASTLE were skinned in the FA Cup at West Brom yesterday - and these fans had absolutely nothing to get shirty about.

Chris Hughton's Championship leaders were beaten 4-2 at the Hawthorns and had defender Ryan Taylor sent off to add to their day of gloom.

Newcastle had not lost for 14 matches, but they found themselves 2-0 down within 31 minutes and even though Andrew Carroll pulled a goal back, Albion took control again. Taylor was dismissed in the 71st minute for a foul on Jerome Thomas and Graham Dorrans' second penalty of the match made it 3-1. Thomas scored a fourth and though Carroll replied for the Magpies in the final minute, there was little to sing about for the barechested Toon fans.

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton said: "The first goal, I can't for the life of me see how a linesman can rule that over the line. The first penalty was soft -if the referee gives that he has to give us two."
