WE'RE BOWLING ALONG; IT'S GREEN FOR GO AT THE DAVIS MEMORIAL CUP.

More than 100 bowlers took to the green at Lochwinnoch Bowling club on Saturday for the Davis Memorial Cup.

It was contested by mainly Renfrewshire teams but there were a few Kilbirnie players included too and it was a group of them that picked up the overall trophy.

Lochwinnoch's own team on the day, INCLUDINGVINCENT Spalding,William Hepburn Snr, Paul Hepburn and Lawerence Wiley, restored some regional pride by taking the gold run and its whisky top It was a long day of bowling got under way at 9am with the final ending at around 6.45pm.The after-party went on long into the evening.

Vincent, past president and gold run champion, said:"It was well run and was the biggest one we've had.

"In the past we have had 90 or so bowlers but this was over 100 and a great day. It was a great competition and the weather was brilliant too. It makes a huge difference to everyone.We started at 9am with the bowling and the party went on until 1am. It was a long but enjoyable day.

"The whole Davis family were there too. It was quite fitting."

The Express was there to capture the action.
