WCAU-TV, WOGL AM/FM AND WAWA FOOD MARKETS PRESENT RED CROSS WITH CHECK FOR MIDWEST FLOOD RELIEF

 PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, WCAU-TV, radio stations WOGL AM/FM and Wawa Food Markets presented the American Red Cross with a check in the amount of $115,870.65 on behalf of the residents of the Delaware Valley and their collective efforts for Midwest flood relief.
 All of the contributions will go directly to American Red Cross Disaster Relief and will provide the victims food, housing, clothing and bedding.
 "The amount of dollars donated truly reflects the generosity and support of the people of the Delaware Valley," expressed Gene Lothery, vice president and general manager, WCAU-TV.
 "The response from the people of our area is overwhelming in time of great need," said Dennis Begley, vice president and general manager, WOGL AM/FM Radio.
 WCAU-TV, radio stations WOGL AM/FM, in cooperation with Wawa Food Markets, initiated a flood relief campaign this past August to encourage area residents to assist the victims of the Midwest floods. More than 500 Wawa Food Markets throughout the tri-state area served as collection centers.
 "We're proud of the tremendous response from our customers and associates during this campaign," stated Dick Wood, president and CEO of Wawa Food Markets. "Once again, they have demonstrated that their concern for fellow citizens in need is only exceeded by their generosity."
 Representatives from WCAU-TV, radio stations WOGL AM/FM and Wawa Food Markets will travel to an American Red Cross Service Center in St. Louis on Friday, Sept. 10, and present the check to Chris Desloge, executive board member, St. Louis Bi-State Chapter of the American Red Cross.
 Last year (August 1992), when Hurricane Andrew inflicted grave devastation on southern Florida, the Delaware Valley collected more than $330,000 in contributions and nearly 500,000 pounds of much needed supplies, through Channel 10 hurricane relief efforts.
 Channel 10's efforts to provide assistance to those in need, is part of its ongoing commitment to Partners In A Caring Community.
