 WATKINS TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
 INITIATIVE CONFERENCE IN KANSAS CITY
 Secretary of Energy James D. Watkins will travel to Kansas City, Mo., Thursday, June 25, to participate in a National Technology Initiative (NTI) Conference, meet with teachers and engineers participating in an elementary school science training program sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE), and announce the creation of two new centers to support development of advanced manufacturing technologies. All of the following events are open to news media coverage:
 Thursday, June 25
 9 a.m. Opening remarks at the National Technology Initiative Conference, Performing Arts Center, University of Missouri at Kansas City, 4949 Cherry St.
 11 a.m. Dialogue with teachers and engineers participating in elementary school science training program, Blue Springs High School, 2000 Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, Mo. Press availability.
 3:45 p.m. Press conference to announce manufacturing technology initiatives, Flexible Manufacturing System Facility, DOE Kansas City Plant, 2000 E. 95th St. NOTE: Because of plant security requirements, reports and photographers covering this event must be U.S. citizens and should arrive at the plant's main gate between 2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. for security check and escort to the press conference site.
