WATER TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION REPORTS NEW TEST FOR
PENTAPURE RESIN TO BE CONDUCTED BY NASA
MINNEAPOLIS, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Water Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: WTCO), a manufacturer and marketer of patented resin-based water purification technology, announced today it will supply its PentaPure(TM) resin to NASA-Bioserve through Kansas State University in connection with an experiment performed under conditions of microgravity. Although iodinated resin has been successfully used to purify water aboard Space Shuttle missions in the past, the upcoming microgravity experiment is expected to provide valuable data with respect to water purification requirements for potential space station use in the future.
The test will be conducted in a United States Microgravity Laboratory aboard a Space Shuttle which is tentatively scheduled for flight in early June 1992. The experiment is designed to test the relative bacterial killing-power of PentaPure resin using sample bacteria once the Space Shuttle is in orbit.
Water Technologies Corporation is a Minneapolis-based manufacturer and marketer of iodinated resin and water purification products. The patented resin was developed by researchers at Kansas State University and Water Technologies Corporation holds the exclusive commercial rights to manufacture and market PentaPure resin, worldwide. The company's PentaPure resin devitalizes harmful waterborne bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, providing microbiologically pure water. Water Technologies Corporation supplies devices suitable for personal travel, camping and emergency use; systems for home and commercial applications; and industrial capacity water purification systems for commercial buildings, complexes, and water bottling facilities.
