WASTE MANAGEMENT, INC. ELECTS JAMES E. KOENIG SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
 OAK BROOK, Ill., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE: WMX) today announced the election of James E. Koenig as senior vice president of the international environmental services company.
 Koenig has been vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of the company since 1989.
 "Mr. Koenig's election recognizes the outstanding contributions he has made in guiding and overseeing our financial affairs as we have grown over the past several years. As our primary investor relations contact, he has been our link to the investment community and to the analysts who follow our company.
 "Over the past year, he played a leadership role in the planning and successful equity offering in April for our Waste Management International subsidiary. The offering will contribute substantially to our continued international expansion."
 Prior to 1989, Koenig served as staff vice president and assistant to the chief financial officer. He previously held a variety of increasingly responsible positions in the company and its subsidiaries.
 He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a masters's of commerce from the University of Illinois in Champaign. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the Illinois Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
