NEW YORK, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Wasserstein Perella & Co. took the latest step in its international expansion today with the appointment of Javier Vega De Seoane Azpilicueta, a leading Spanish industrialist, as its senior adviser for Spain.
Vega, age 45, is chairman of Gestlink S.A., a strategic consulting firm based in Madrid. Previously, he was director general of Instituto Nacional De Industria (INI), chairman of Explosivos Rio Tinto S.A. and, most recently, chairman of ERCROS S.A.

Vega joins a number of senior industrialists who have been appointed to senior positions in Wasserstein Perella's European operations in the past 18 months. These include Professor Franco Reviglio, senior adviser for Italy and former chairman of ENI and minister of finance of Italy; Lord Haslam of Bolton, chairman of Wasserstein Perella & Co. Limited in London and previously chairman of British Coal Corporation, British Steel Corporation and Tate & Lyle Plc and deputy chairman of ICI; Sir Peter Levene, deputy chairman of Wasserstein Perella & Co. Limited and former chief of defense procurement of the U.K. Ministry of Defense; and Dr. Helge Petersen, managing director of Wasserstein Perella & Co. Deutschland GmbH, previously chief executive of the Thurn-und-Taxis Group. Most recently, Wasserstein Perella announced the appointment of Jean-Pierre Halbron as president of Wasserstein Perella (France) S.A. Halbron previously was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Total S.A.
Wasserstein Perella has over 30 professionals based in its European operations, and 110 professionals worldwide.
