WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS: VETERANS ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO MEET IN LAKEWOOD

 OLYMPIA, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee (VAAC) announced today that it will hold a special meeting focusing on health care reform and the impact on veterans and family members on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the American Lake VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Lakewood.
 Highlighting the morning is a presentation on President Clinton's national health care reform by Pat O'Neill, special assistant to the assistant secretary of policy and planning for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The committee will also hear a report on Washington's health care reform which was passed by the 1993 state legislature.
 The afternoon portion will feature a panel discussion comprised of the directors of the state's four VA Medical Centers and a representative from the VA Regional Office in Seattle.
 The VAAC is composed of 17 members and advises the governor and the director of the Department of Veterans Affairs on issues and programs concerning veterans.
 The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in Building No. 9 and is open to the public. The VAMC is located off I-5 exit 124, Ponders Gravelly Lake, follow signs to hospital.
