WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL AND HEALTH SERVICES ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF COMPTROLLER

 OLYMPIA, Wash., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of Marsha A. Hubbard as comptroller for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) was announced today by Secretary Jean Soliz.
 Hubbard will become chief financial officer for the agency on April 5.
 "Her extensive experience and ability in the area of human services, combined with her knowledge of the legislative and executive branches of government will be a valuable addition to our management team," Soliz said.
 Hubbard has been budget development director for the University of Alaska in Fairbanks since 1988.
 She previously held a number of executive positions with the state of Alaska, including deputy commissioner of Administrative Management for the Department of Administration, director of the Division of Budget and Finance for the Department of Health and Social Services, and special assistant to former Alaska Gov. Bill Sheffield.
 Hubbard was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Webster College in St. Louis, Mo., in 1969. She completed graduate courses in Public Administration at George Washington University and St. Louis University in 1971 and 1973.
 In her new assignment, she will have administrative responsibility for the department's annual budget of more than $4 billion of state and federal funds.
