WASHINGTON MUTUAL TO WELCOME FORMER PIONEER SAVINGS BANK CUSTOMERS WITH OPEN HOUSES

SEATTLE, May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Pioneer Savings Bank customers will be formally introduced to their new Washington Mutual (NASDAQ: WAMU) financial centers at 17 open house celebrations May 13-15, Washington Mutual said today.
"We want to welcome our new customers into the Washington Mutual family. We want to show our new customers that we care about their business and can offer products and services that will help them meet their financial goals," said Marcia Bailey, vice president and regional manager of Washington Mutual's northern Puget Sound region.
Washington Mutual completed its acquisition of Pioneer Bank on March 1, acquiring 17 financial centers in the Snohomish, Island and King county communities of Arlington, Edmonds, Everett, Factoria, Federal Way, Freeland, Issaquah, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, Redmond, Sammamish Highlands, Smokey Point and Snohomish, Wash.
"We are extremely excited to move into these communities," Bailey said. "Over the years, we have made education and affordable housing two of our top community involvement priorities, and we hope to become leaders on these fronts in our new regions."
The open houses will take place at 15 former Pioneer locations and at two Washington Mutual financial centers where Pioneer branches were consolidated. Staff members will pass out cookies, espresso and balloons and invite customers to enter daily drawings for $200 checking accounts, $100 savings accounts and $50 savings bonds. On Saturday, May 15, each financial center will award a grand prize of a 12-month $1,000 time deposit.
