WASA marks formation of new grade-A practice.

Wank Adams Slavin Associates LLP announced the formation of a new design practice, Studio A at WASA.

New Studio A partners Jack Esterson and Martin Kapell will head the studio. Prior to joining forces with WASA, Esterson and Kapell were principals of TEK Architects, an award-winning New York City firm best known for its finely crafted interiors for corporate and retail projects and its design work for institutional and not-for-profit clients.

"First and foremost, Studio A will create distinctive architecture that challenges the ordinary and mundane," said Kapell. "This is a truly unique opportunity for us to continue to produce original, innovative design, but now with the support of architects, engineers and preservationists from a firm with more than 115 years of experience.

"To be able to walk down the hall and collaborate with a wide range of specialists is a luxury most architects simply don't have at their disposal. This enables us to continue to develop our distinctive blend of modern design and intense client services within the context of WASA's technical and management expertise," Kapell added.

"The formation of Studio A is a critical component in our ongoing plans for the transformation of

WASA from a well-respected New York City firm to a major player in the regional and national marketplace for architecture and related services," said Harry Spring, WASA managing partner. "With the creation of Studio A, WASA moves one step closer to completing its vision of providing fully integrated multi-disciplinary services to its clients."

Esterson and Kapell are joined by several senior associates and key design personnel that make up the core of the Studio A team.

Current Studio A clients include: Brooklyn College, Columbia University, CUNY, Hofstra University, New York University, the National Basketball Players Association, Bank Street College of Education and the Edwin Gould Foundation.
