WAS SETANTA GOOD TO YOU?

Byline: TAM COWAN

ASK any guys of my generation and they'll tell you Oscar Goldman got six million dollars to rebuild Steve Austin.

So forget The Bionic Man - Mark McGhee must have been more like The Catatonic Man after hearing he's got just pounds 10,000 to rebuild Aberdeen. I'll always have a soft spot for McGhee after the way he took Motherwell by the scruff on the neck in 2007 and led us into Europe, so I'd advise him to spend the summer trying to visit every house in the UK.

This follows the snippet in midweek that revealed we apparently have pounds 57m in loose change down the back of our sofas. Seriously, though, McGhee reckons he'll pick up some bargains as a lot of big-money deals were signed before the collapse of Setanta TV.

Sounds good but what's he going to achieve at Pittodrie next season with a back four of Jim Delahunt, Rob Ma cLean, Scott Booth and Ali Douglas?
