 WARREN-BASED CIMCO PAYS 107 WORKERS $160,500
FOR BUYING U.S. CARS AND TRUCKS
WARREN, Mich., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Warren-based CIMCO Inc. will host a "thank you" luncheon Saturday, April 4, for the company's 107 employees who collected $160,500 for purchasing U.S. nameplate cars and trucks during the company's recent $1,500 cash-back rebate offer.
"Frankly, I was overwhelmed by the response," said CIMCO Executive Vice-President John Ausilio. "When we made the offer in mid-January, I figured we'd get a couple of dozen people to participate.
"But it was such a good deal that nearly one-third of our work force took advantage of it. I see where Monsanto Chemical Co. made a similar offer, but less than 7 percent of their employees responded. I'm proud that a small company like CIMCO could do so much better than that."
CIMCO, which supplies sheet metal tooling to the auto industry, made the offer to its employees and management people alike. The $1,500 rebates were made in addition to other programs.
"General Motors also gave $1,500 and Ford and Chrysler both came up with $1,000 on each car," said Ausilio. "With our $1,500 for seed money, it was an offer they couldn't refuse."
In addition to the $160,500 in rebates, Ausilio has invited CIMCO's 107 new-car buyers to be his guests for lunch at Warren's Arriva Ristorante, on 12 Mile Road west of Van Dyke at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
He's asked the employees to bring their new American cars "to demonstrate our confidence in the U.S. auto industry."
