WARRANTECH ENDORSED BY ELECTRONIC/APPLIANCE BUYING GROUP
STAMFORD, Conn., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Warrantech Corporation (NASDAQ: WTEC) announced that a major retail buying group has selected the service contract programs offered by Warrantech Consumer Product Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. Association Volume Buyers (AVB), a 700-member buying group, has selected the Warrantech service contract programs for use by its members. AVB members are retail dealers in the major appliance, consumer electronic, home entertainment, bedding and furniture fields. The AVB members' retail stores represent over $1 billion in annual sales and are located throughout the United States.
According to Steve Thomas, senior vice president of Warrantech Consumer Product Services, "The sponsorship of AVB gives us entree to the 1,100 retail outlets operated by the group's members. To-date, the overwhelming response in sign ups confirms that our programs are creating new profit opportunities that AVB members did not have previously."
The Warrantech service contracts cover the repair or replacement of products beyond the original manufacturers' warranties.
John Shields, National Executive Director of AVB, said, "After intensive research, we have concluded that Warrantech offers an "excellent service contract program. The company is financially sound, its insurance backing is the strongest available, and its programs are comprehensive. We expect Warrantech's service contracts and direct marketing programs will become a valuable addition to the merchandising resources available to AVB members."
Warrantech Corporation, through its subsidiaries Warrantech Consumer Product Services and Warrantech Automotive, administers service contract programs for consumer electronic products, appliances, home office equipment, automobiles, recreational vehicles, tires and automotive components. Warrantech has executive offices in Stamford, and corporate offices in Euless, Texas.
