WARNER BROS. TO RECEIVE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FROM BURBANK HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR BUILDING RESTORATIONS

BURBANK, Calif., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Warner Bros. will be the recipient of the Burbank Historical Society's first Award of Excellence at a ceremony to be held on the studio premises Wednesday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. The award recognizes Warner Bros.' accomplishment in the recent restoration of its corporate headquarters.
Historical Society President Gary Sutliff will present a plaque to Warner Bros. Executive Vice President Barry Meyer. Burbank Mayor George Battey and several members of the Historical Society's board of directors will also be in attendance.
The Warner Bros. main administration building was initially constructed in 1926 and has been corporate headquarters since that time. In restoring the property, architects Gensler & Associates, landscape architects Emmett Wempel & Associates, Turner Construction and Warner Bros. maintained the integrity of the original buildings while modifying them for contemporary use.
Stated Sutliff, "Warner Bros. has been a good neighbor and a cornerstone of our way of life in Burbank for 70 years. With this latest improvement to their buildings, they have shown respect for the history of our city and an ongoing concern for the visual quality of the area that is greatly appreciated by all of us who live and work here. We are pleased to recognize their efforts with this award."
Commented Meyer, "It's a pleasure to receive a commendation from the Burbank Historical Society because we feel that we truly are an important part of Burbank history. The architects, designers and others who have worked so hard on our recent renovation have done a fine job in integrating a state-of-the-art motion picture studio into a close-knit community with a strong identity of its own. We're very proud of our new appearance."
