WARNER BROS. TO EXTEND HEALTH INSURANCE TO EMPLOYEES' SAME-SEX PARTNERS

BURBANK, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Warner Bros. announced today that, effective Aug. 1, health insurance coverage given to families of all Warner Bros. employees will be extended to include same- sex domestic partners. The announcement was made by Adrienne Jeanne Gary, Warner Bros. senior vice president, Human Resources.
Stated Gary: "Warner Bros. has prided itself for many years on being an equal opportunity non-discriminatory employer with a diverse employee population. Since our success as a entertainment company has been based on the contributions of this diverse population, we are pleased to recognize all our employees and to extend health benefits in this manner."
Warner Bros. employees are being advised of this extension of their health coverage during a series of seminars familiarizing them with the new benefits package.
Richard Jennings, executive director of Hollywood Supports, a group founded by leading industry figures to counter workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or HIV status, supported Warner Bros.' decision: "Hollywood Supports applauds Warner Bros. for taking this important step to send a strong message of support for all Warner Bros. employees, regardless of sexual orientation. The company's employee benefits program is highly regarded in the industry, and I hope Warner's action will be influential with other industry employers currently considering this policy."
