WARNER BROS. TO DISTRIBUTE MICHAEL TOLKIN'S 'THE NEW AGE,' STARRING PETER WELLER AND JUDY DAVIS

BURBANK, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Warner Bros. will distribute, on a worldwide basis, Arnon Milchan's New Regency film, "The New Age," a contemporary comedy about sex, death and shopping starring Peter Weller and Judy Davis. Michael Tolkin, who received an Academy Award nomination this year for his screenplay of "The Player," is directing the film, which he also wrote. "The New Age," a Regency and Alcor Films Presentation of an Ixtlan/Addis-Wechsler Production, is being produced by Nick Wechsler and Keith Addis, with Iya Labunka and Janet Yang serving as co-producers. Oliver Stone and Milchan are the executive producers.
Weller and Davis star as a trendy Los Angeles couple who lose their jobs and open a chic clothing boutique to raise enough money to pay for their divorce. "The New Age" explores the emotional, sexual and spiritual survival tactics of contemporary society.
The ensemble cast also includes Patrick Bachau, John Diehl, Paula Marshall, Maureen Mueller, Tanya Pohlkotte, Bruce Ramsey, Rachel Rosenthal, Assumpta Serna, Susan Traylor and Adam West. Samuel L. Jackson, Corbin Bersen, Jonathan Hadary, Audra Lindley and John C. McGinley make cameo appearances.
"The New Age" is Tolkin's second directorial effort. His first was the highly acclaimed "The Rapture."
Tolkin wrote the novel "The Player"; his new book, "Among the Dead," was published this month.
Weller is well known to audiences for his work in such diverse films as "Robocop," in which he played the title role; "Naked Lunch," in which he also starred opposite Davis; "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension" and many others.
Davis received worldwide critical praise for her roles in such films as "Husbands and Wives," for which she received an Oscar nomination this year; "A Passage to India," for which she also received an Academy Award nomination; "My Brilliant Career," "High Tide," "Barton Fink" and "Impromptu."
"The New Age" began principal photography in February 1993.
