WARNER BROS. CLASSIC ANIMATED CHARACTER TWEETY TO SPEARHEAD NEW NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE

'Tweety's Global Patrol' Teaches Elementary School Children
 the Importance of Environmental Responsibility
BURBANK, Calif., Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- The United States Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the Alliance for Environmental Education, Warner Bros. and the National Environmental Education & Training Foundation is launching a major new environmental education initiative targeted at third and fourth graders.
"Tweety's Global Patrol" is a multifaceted, progressive elementary education program featuring Warner Bros. animated character Tweety and his famous foe, Sylvester, who convey environmental messages urging young children to reduce, reuse and recycle. This diverse and unique program includes tested educational materials for in-classroom use, public service television announcements and print support. The educational materials have been sent to 70,000 classrooms across the nation. The public service announcements are being distributed to stations in the top 100 markets in the United States in addition to television networks and cable outlets.
According to Dan Romanelli, president, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products, "This is a joint venture of enormous magnitude which marshals our classic Tweety character with the EPA and the Alliance for Environmental Education. This innovative program will clearly provide important information about the environment and its preservation resulting in significant educational benefits to the nation's youngsters. We are genuinely excited about the potential of this program to make a positive impression at the critical elementary school level."
This aggressive environmental and educational program benefits from the support of a substantial network of environmental educators who participate through the Alliance for Environmental Education in cooperation with the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation. In addition, the United States Environmental Protection Agency ensures that the scientific and technical elements are accurate.
A number of promotional partners and licensees have already signed on to support and participate in the program, with a percentage of the proceeds earmarked to fund environmental education. One such partner, Your Favorite Producer, is printing "Tweety's Global Patrol" messages on more than 500,000,000 milk and juice cartons in schools nationwide. Among the distributors of the beverage cartons is the Los Angeles Unified School District, which is currently running the largest recycling program in the nation.
Warner Bros. is a Time-Warner Entertainment company. With interests in film, publishing, home video, entertainment and program distribution, Time-Warner is the largest communications organization in the world.
