WARNER BROS./REPRISE RECORDS THROWS AN ALL-STAR RENT PARTY
BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- In periods of economic hardship, it's more important than ever for communities to draw together, helping out those in need and forging bonds that will last through good times and bad.
It's in that spirit that Warner Bros. and Reprise Records, in conjunction with Los Angeles radio station KKBT, will host a unique musical "Rent Party" Nov. 22 at the Palace in Los Angeles. Proceeds from the event will go toward aiding financially burdened individuals and families by awarding five contest winners $1,000 each toward paying the rent. Additionally, $1,000 will be given to His Sheltering Arms, a shelter for homeless women with children.
"We're always looking for ways both the company and our artists can get involved in directly benefiting the people who make our jobs possible," remarks Warner Bros. Records' Artist Relations Manager Ife Kiara, who conceived and coordinated the project. "Homelessness and hunger are a national disgrace and it's important for all of us to do what we can to help people through these difficult times." The event, scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to midnight, will highlight performances by Warner Bros. and Reprise recording artists Tevin Campbell, Keith Washington, Michael Cooper, Simple Pleasure and Force One Network. Also on hand to host the Rent Party: Morris Day and Sheila E.
Prize money will be awarded to individuals responding to a call- in promotion on KKBT or through special mail-in postcards and entry forms available at the Rent Party. All qualifiers will be awarded a package of Warner Bros./Reprise compact discs, posters and other promotional material.
Aside from the all-star musical line-up, the Rent Party will feature a fried chicken and fish dinner, a dance floor and disc jockey, games, promotional grab bags and other attractions.
One thousand tickets for the event will be priced at $16.50 each and will be available at the Palace box office on the day of the party, beginning at noon. Fifty pairs of tickets will also be given away by KKBT on the air.
