WARD'S REPORTS ESTIMATED PRODUCTION

 DETROIT, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. vehicle producers will assemble an estimated 216,878 cars and trucks this week, according to Ward's Automotive Reports.
 This week's production is 2 percent above the actual 212,794 vehicles built last week, and just over 2 percent higher than same-week 1992's 212,237, Ward's reported. Separately, truck production should see a 20-percent jump over same-period 1992, with cars posting a 10-percent drop from year-ago.
 Additionally, two U.S. vehicle assembly plants are closed this week for model changeover or vacation.
 Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the United States, General Motors Corp. accounts for 35.6 percent; Ford Motor Co., 32.5 percent; Chrysler Corp., 12.9 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 3.7 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 3.6 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.1 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. USA Inc., 2.1 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.0 percent; Diamond-Star Motors Corp., 1.6 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.2 percent; Navistar International Transportation Corp., 0.7 percent; and other truck manufacturers, 1 percent.
