WARD'S REPORTS ESTIMATED PRODUCTION

DETROIT, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. vehicle assemblers will build an estimated 193,349 cars and trucks this week, Ward's Automotive Reports announced today.
This week's scheduled production is 9.8 percent lower than the prior week's build because all union-affiliated plants were closed Monday, Jan. 18, for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. This week's output is 8.2 percent higher than same-week 1992, which also was a four-day work week, Ward's said.
Additionally, the weekly newsletter reported that all regularly active U.S. vehicle assembly facilities are operating this week.
Calendar-year 1993 U.S. car and truck production through the end of this week stands at an estimated 582,497, 18.1 percent ahead of like- 1992's 493,193, Ward's said.
