WAR ON TERROR: GOLD IN THE DUST.
The precious metal may be part of the vault containing more than pounds 137 million in gold and silver which was buried when the the twin towers collapsed.
The vault was owned by the Bank of Nova Scotia, which held the metal as security for trading currencies in New York.
Two lorry loads of gold were taken away under tight security last night.
One construction worker said: "Few people are allowed down there at the moment."
