WANTED: Little helper for Santa.

FANCY being one of Santa's little helpers?

If your child does, this Christmas could be their chance to land a dream role.

A department store giant is looking for children aged between five and 12 to become the envy of their friends - by being part of an expert national panel of toy testers.

It's all part of's search for the ultimate Christmas present of 2002 - something to rival the likes of the Teletubbies and Bob The Builder, which topped lists everywhere in recent years.

And they reckon children are the ideal people to make life easier for parents.

``With more and more toys on the market every year, it gets harder to decide what children really want, and what they will play with for five minutes and then abandon,'' said a spokesman for in South Wales.

``We want to help parents confused about whether to buy their children Harry Potter or Monsters Inc. merchandise, by recruiting a team of little helpers.''

The judges will be looking for 20 children to be part of the expert panel. And the lucky testers will be invited to a party to play with this year's leading toys and choose the one they would really like for Christmas - which they will be allowed to keep. To have a chance at becoming a Toy Tester, fill out the application form on the website or pick up a leaflet at any Littlewoods or Littlewoods Index store. Applications must be in by October 31.
