WANTED: A TWO-STEPPIN', BOOT-STOMPIN' COUNTRY TUNE; SHOOTARITA HOLDS NATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION

DETROIT, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- For all the cowpokes and fillies out there with a knack for crooning a country tune, Shootarita Margarita Schnapps has announced a national contest that offers songwriters throughout the country a chance to go to the Grand Ole Opry.
The "Shootarita Shot at Fame" contest challenges country-music lovers to write an original song (lyrics and score) about the Shootarita Legend, a classic Old West story complete with sassy, brokenhearted Bartender Rita, who -- with one blow from a hard-flung shot glass -- fells the bandit who gunned down her true love and saves a young man itchin' for revenge for the death of his Pa.
Contestants must submit an audiocassette of their song along with typed lyrics. Three finalists will be selected from the entries received, and will be brought to the Cheyenne Saloon at Church Street Station in Orlando, Fla., for the final event, where they will perform their songs live before a panel of celebrity judges. The winner will receive an expense-paid trip to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry.
Shootarita Margarita Schnapps is a fun line of unique margarita- based "shooters" recently introduced by Hiram Walker Liqueurs. Shootarita comes in three flavors: Original, which has a traditional margarita taste; Desert Heat, a mild jalapeno version of the original flavor; and Hot Tomata, which is similar in taste to a "Bloody Maria," a combination of tequila, spices and tomato juice. The spicy, tart shooters are designed to be "kicked back" after licking the salted rim of the shot glass -- hence the expression "Salt It, Lick It, Kick It." And, of course, no Shootarita would be complete without the traditional toast to Rita.
