WANG WILL FIGHT INJUNCTION

 WANG WILL FIGHT INJUNCTION
LOWELL, Mass., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Wang Laboratories, Inc.

(AMEX: WAN) issued the following statement regarding a preliminary injunction issued by the Federal District Court in San Francisco:
In April 1991, Wang changed its operating system license prices for used VS equipment and VS upgrades to be more fully in accord with standard industry practices and to reflect the value of the software. Following that change, suit was brought by TSJ Inc., a used computer equipment dealer, in an attempt to require Wang to revert to its prior pricing.
Wang believes that its pricing policy is neither anti-competitive nor unfair in that it provides Wang reasonable compensation for the value of its software. Wang's price for its software licenses are the same regardless of whether the customer buys the hardware from Wang or from any other source. Customers, therefore, have the opportunity to purchase, on a fair basis, used hardware either from Wang or from other suppliers.
The company will continue to pursue efforts to receive reasonable value from those individuals and companies using its software. Wang was disappointed to learn of the court's order, which we believe is contrary to both the facts and the law. We intend to vigorously pursue our options, including a motion for reconsideration of the court's decision, an appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court, and an expedited trial on the merits. We are confident that the company's position will prevail.
It should be noted that the estimate of $330 million annual volume of used Wang equipment is a gross exaggeration compiled by a consultant to the plaintiff. During its fiscal year ending on June 30, 1991, Wang estimates that its revenues from used VS equipment sales totaled less than $30 million in the United States and that revenues from operating system licenses, which are the subject of this lawsuit, were a small fraction of that amount.
