 WANG OFFERS VS COBOL CO-EXISTENCE TOOLS AND SERVICES
 LOWELL, Mass., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Wang Laboratories, Inc.


(NYSE: WAN) today announced an agreement with International Digital Scientific, Inc. (IDSI) of Valencia, Calif., by which Wang can sell and support IDSI's Wang Interchange Source Processor (WISP) COBOL Co- existence and Development Kit. WISP enables VS users who plan to co- exist in an open environment to run their VS COBOL applications on the multiple systems that Wang offers to them -- the VS, the Wang RISC Series, and DOS-based PCs, providing a common "look and feel" among their systems.
 Wang VS users who are considering incorporating open systems now have the necessary solutions and open platforms available from Wang, their present vendor.
 "To help our customers plan for the future, we offer a choice of systems for their computing needs," said David Goulden, Wang's vice president of marketing. "Customers can choose to enhance their investments in Wang VS mid-range systems and PC local area networks (LANS), add RISC Series UNIX systems for new applications, integrate into a client/server model, and co-exist among these computing architectures. The WISP product assists our customers in bringing their VS COBOL applications to open systems."

 WISP handles many aspect of source-code conversion, including file transfer, syntax translation, terminal operation, and screen display management.
